Milkshakes, lollipops and bon bons at Sugar Mouse cafe and sweet shop in Easingwold
One of my favourite places to visit with the children on an autumn afternoon is Sugar Mouse. Tucked away in the corner of Easingwold’s pretty market square, this wonderful old fashioned cafe and sweet shop is the ultimate in childhood fantasies.
As you step through the door you are greeted with a huge display of lollipops and delicious handmade chocolate bars, while the shelves groan with gleaming glass jars, filled with over 200 different types of sweets and scrumptious treats.
We like to cosy up in the corner table in the cafe and spend a while deliberating over which mouthwatering milkshake or smoothie to choose. With over fifty flavours, this can take some time, but inevitably our order includes rhubarb and custard bon bon smoothie and my favourite, the mint aero smoothie, all made from the actual blended sweets or chocolate. Served in old fashioned milk bottles, these drinks really are, to quote one of my daughters: “heaven in a bottle”!
